How big of a log can your mill handle?
The mill’s hydraulics are rated to lift and turn 4K lb and the saw head can clear a 34” wide cut and up to 20’ log lengths. Logs above 4K lb can be processed with the assistance from a crane or heavy duty lift.

How many board feet can typically be milled in an 8 hour day and what will the cost be?
There are many factors that go into achieving the best yield consistently on a portable sawmill job site. Here are the important factors that sawyer and customer can jointly coordinate to achieve the most efficient results:

1.) Customer should have the logs cleaned, checked for metal and staged for the mill set-up
2.) There is ample labor on site to remove slab wood and finished lumber from the mill so sawyer can continue milling with minimal interruption
3.) Having equipment on site to move large heavy logs to the mill’s hydraulic log loading arms

If these preparation steps are taken the project should average 250-300 bf per hour of milling, which will be in the ballpark of $.38-.42 per bf all in for the service charges incurred from an 8 hour day. This yield is based on the assumption that the logs are of good quality.

Do you provide estimates and perform site visits in advance?
Yes I can provide a rough estimate of lumber yield based on log sizes and come out for a site visit if we are not able to effectively cover all the bases through email, photos and a phone consultation.
